General Information

Travel

Edinburgh is easily accessible by air, road, rail or ferry.

By Air - www.edinburghairport.com
Edinburgh Airport benefits from over 30 airlines serving over 60 destinations, including Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Paris and Stockholm. There are over 150 flights daily between Edinburgh and London Airports every day. The airport is only 12 km (8 miles) from Edinburgh City Centre and has excellent bus and taxi connections.

By Rail - www.nationalrail.co.uk
Edinburgh is linked to all the major cities and airports in Britain. The high-speed link to London gets you from the heart of one city to another in just over four hours, whilst the Eurostar service connects Paris to Edinburgh in around eight hours.

By Road - www.nationalexpress.com and www.theaa.com
Motorways and a network of quiet trunk roads ensure that Edinburgh is easily - and pleasantly - accessible by road. The newly refurbished coach station at St Andrews Square offers connections to all major cities in Britain.

By Ferry - www.directferries.co.uk
There is a daily overnight service from Rosyth (just half hour from the centre of Edinburgh) to Zeebrugge in Belgium. It's operated by Superfast Ferries, offering superb comfort and a jouney time of just 18 hours, with one service per day in each direction.

Official Language
The congress language will be English

Climate
Edinburgh enjoys a moderate year-round climate. From April to September, temperatures are mild and compare favourably with other European cities; annual rainfall is the same as Frankfurt, New York and Rome. A perfect Edinburgh day dawns with a clear blue sky, warm and pleasant in summer - though in winter often accompanied by a sharp frost.

Visa information
Participants from a number of countries may need an entry visa for the UK. For further details we recommend that you contact the British Embassy or Consulate in your home country or go to http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk for further information. The conference organisers regret that they cannot issue invitation letters for visa purposes, but can provide confirmation of conference details and the registration status of participants.

Insurance
Participants are responsible for organising their own insurance. The organisers cannot be held liable for any damages, losses or accidents occurring during travel to/from the conferences and during the conferences. All guests participate at their own risk.
